I know this doesnt answer your question but it is the only way i could post a message on this board.
I own a Series 3 SWB 2.25 Diesel and have driven it daily for the last few months.
Yesterday I towed a light caravan up to Ponteland (I live in Newcastle upon Tyne) and drove back home.
I then popped out to the shop, a 3 mile round journey and the car decided to over heat, but this wasnt shown on the gauge, and all the coolant spray out of the heater control valve.
I have been told by different people that i need a new heater control valve, or just to buy a bottle of Radwell.
If any one has an idea what happened, or could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Now to make you all laugh and feel sorry for the newbie I am also colour blind so when steam started to pour through the heating vents and bellow out from under the bonnet I could not tell if it was steam or smoke. I would probably of assumed it was steam but the week before my 3 wires from the alternator to starter motor fell against the engine block, melted fuses together and caused a small fire whilst at a friends house. He helped me fix it quickly by twisting together new pieces of wire, and they are waiting to be soldered.
I love all landrovers - and land rover owners but i was severley dissapointed when an owner in a very nice n reg 90 with snorkel and superwhinch pulled up, walked over to the off licence, got a 4 pack and walked back to his car. I mean is alchohol that important.
Luckily i have a good friend, and his dad was the one who got me interested in landrovers with his red 109 called rodney, he now drives a green 90 called kermit (SAD I KNOW). He drove up an hour and half later with his trailer after going to the tip, and a watering can, filled me up and said theres enough to get you home - take it easy!
I got home and have had to revert back to my mum's fiesta for work - I am 6ft 6 and I look a lot better stepping down from a vehicle than pulling myself out of a dinky car.
