My 95 Mpi started to idle roughly and stall often when coasting to a stop. I cleaned out the manifold air pressure sensor pipe as suggeted in the Rover 800 pages but the problem remained. All sensors were working. The dealer could not solve it and suggested I get a new throttle housing. I bought it and while dismantling the old housing, noticed that the throttle disc on the new housing had a gap between the edge of throttle disc and the housing. The old one had formed an oil deposit that sealed the edges. No air flow!!! I cleaned th oil off and now it idles better than I remember. The ECU controlled idle will hunt a bit as it adjusts to the better idle airflow.
Anyone needs a brand new throttle housing?
