I recently read about this problem and a solution.(?) The throtle Postioning solenoid was the culprit. Excessive wear. I know, it's not that old but it solved the problem..... :-)Fuzz
: My 97 has the exact same problem and the dealer told me the exact same thing. Also , I have found dozens of other posts with the same problem. The dealer knows what the problem is they just won't acknowledge it because it is so wide spread that they would have to do a recall(big money). I have yet to find the fix but am still looking. Landrover as ia Co are total bastards. There trucks suck so does there cust service. I should have known better than to buy a British product.
