Yes I had serious oil pressure problems w/ my 3.9 ltr, just disgusting, and spent over a grand at LR having the oil pump replaced, 25k Miles later my oil pressure is dropping again, I can even actually hear my my lifters collapsing in spite of my utter disbelief that it could be anything other than a failed sending unit, but now again the idiot light is coming on at highway speeds, and I am LIVID that the premiere SUV in the world is possibly losing another oil pump? the actual problem wasnt an oil pump failure and, I am clueless really as to why a vehicle that I have taken such good care of is very possibly moments away from catastrophic engine failure, and myself from a serious financial dilemma, well the godforsaken oil filter was saturated after appx. 1800 miles, and changing oil that should have lasted 3 times as long was a short term fix, however I became increasingly disturbed at the ever increasing delay in pressure up occuring at every mornings cold start and the inevitable nerve shredding engine clatter from the rockers due to collapsed lifters I just wanted to hurl! well I discovered ( no pun intended ) that the 10 to 1 compression ratio requires at least a 93 octane always, the engine should be thouroghly flushed prior to every oil change, and I run something called Rislone with every oil change and finally I went to a Fram PH8 oil filter instead of the tiny short thing with so little media that is provided, and after resolving the major culprits I went ahead and installed an electric oil pump that pressures up my engine prior to any start, its controlled by 2 switching relays via the oil pressure switch and ignition coil. Pheewwweee. Get a handle on this problem before its too late!
Hi Guy's,
: I ,jam just wondering if anyone has this same problem ( or is it a problem ), i have just had my service done and everything is good, the only problem is that when i switch my ignition on and start the engine, the oil light stays on for around 3 seconds but then goes out, it does not come on when i am driving it but i have not noticed it before and i am quite concerned about it. someone said that it might be the wrong grade of oil that is in it, but Landrover done the service and i would assume that they have used the correct oil. any advice would be gratefull of,
: Thanks
