Welcome to the net home of the
Shropshire Laners
We are a group of people who like Green Lane Driving and Off Road Driving, we have been in together since the start of 1998 although some of us have been Green Land Driving together for several years and in some cases more years than I care to remember! Graham Gleave and John "Whiskey" Walker, who were the main driving, force behind the formation of this club. Graham unfortunately has since has since died from Leukaemia and as a tribute to him we have decided to continue his good works.
The club holds meetings on the first Thursday of each month at 9.00 pm ish in the Stanton Arms public house which is in a little Shropshire village of Stanton Upon Hine-Heath which is by RAF Shawbury.
We try to organise an event on the Sunday after the meeting, this may be a Social, Green Lane Run, Off Road Driving Practice or a Voyage of Discovery (Lane check out and/or hunt). We will also have other events throughout the month, but try to keep this Sunday for an event.
Our membership is drawn from people in the Shropshire, North East Wales and South West Cheshire areas although most is from the Shrewsbury, Telford and Whitchurch areas.
Some members of the club are also members of other clubs that provide either competitions such as trials or family outings and holidays, the Shropshire Laners complements these clubs be providing and promoting mainly Green Lane Driving.
The club had a good turnout at Western Park (the first show to be attended as a club) and the sun shone on us all.
This is only an introduction to the club but I hope to be able to provide a full diary of events and some photographs in the next edition of the club news.
